Providing TrichoScan

Requirements

  • Suitable dermatoscope or compatible camera (see manufacturer list)
  • TrichoScan software for automatic analysis
  • Standardized workflow for reproducible images
  • Documentation and consent handling (privacy)

Workflow

  1. Information: Explain the procedure and obtain consent (privacy)
  2. Preparation: Select and document the exact location, or mark a small scalp area
  3. Imaging: Capture standardized images under matching conditions
  4. Analysis: Automatic evaluation with the software
  5. Results discussion: Explain the results in an understandable way

Capturing images

A digital dermatoscopic image is required to capture the prepared scalp area. Supported systems are available from:

  • Heine
  • Dino-Lite
  • Derma Medical Systems
  • DermoScan (DermoGenius)
  • Pixience

As a rule, the prepared measurement site is moistened well with an alcohol-based tincture (for example Kodan Spray), and the dermatoscope with polarized light is then placed without trapped air bubbles.

Quality & reproducibility

The value of TrichoScan lies mainly in comparison over time. That is why a standardized workflow is essential.

  • Always use the same measurement site (precise documentation or marking)
  • Ensure the same lighting and magnification
  • Prepare the hairs in the measurement area consistently (for example by trimming)
  • Capture sharp images without artifacts
  • Document the measurement conditions

Areas of use

  • Documentation of hair changes over time
  • Support for cosmetic applications
  • Use in studies and observational settings

Communicating results

Results should be explained clearly and without unnecessary technical jargon. It is especially important to note that individual values are usually less meaningful than their development over time.

Positioning

TrichoScan enables a standardized and traceable analysis of hair parameters. This makes changes visible and documentable.

The procedure does not replace a medical examination and is not intended for diagnosis or treatment decisions.

TrichoScan is not a medical device and is intended for the objective analysis and documentation of hair characteristics. No medical diagnoses are made and no treatment recommendations are given.
